11/17/2025-11/23/2025
Jake Guentzel (C) – Tampa Bay Lightening
Guentzel registered his first hat-trick of the season on 11/18/2025 (5-1 W vs NJD). He opened the scoring for the Lightning in the opening frame and netted two power-play goals later in the contest. This marks Guentzel’s 10th hat-trick of his career and third as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 31-year-old potted the game-winning goal to edge the Lightning past the Oilers in overtime on 11/20/2025 (2-1 OT vs EDM). The Omaha, Nebraska native leads in goals (12) and is tied for second with Brandon Hagel among Lightning skaters in points with 22.
A third-round (77th-overall) selection by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Guentzel would skate in eight seasons as Penguin before being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on 3/7/2024. Prior to his professional hockey debut, Guentzel spent three seasons at the collegiate level with the University of Nebraska-Omaha (NCHC) and lead the Mavericks while establishing a collegiate career high in scoring with 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists) in 35 games. Guentzel is a former Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins in rookie season (2016-17).
Alex Ovechkin (RW) – Washington Capitals
Ovechkin registered six points (five goals, one assist), including a hat-track on 11/20/25 (8-4 W @ MTL) in four games for the Capitals last week. His hat-trick in Montreal marked the 33rd three-goal performance of his career. He concluded the night with four points after registering an assist on a power-play marker from Ethen Frank. The Washington captain rode a four game goal streak last week that concluded on 11/22/25 (5-3 L vs TBL) after failing to reach the back of the net. Ovechkin ranks second behind Tom Wilson among Capitals skaters in goals with 10.
At 40-years-old, Ovechkin continues to set new NHL statistical highs in goal scoring this season. After eclipsing the 900-goal mark to begin the season, Ovechkin show little signs of slowing down as he sets his sights on the 1000-goal mark. After scoring 10 goals in the opening 22 games of the season, the Capitals forward is on pace for 37 markers by seasons end. Ovechkin has only failed to reach the 40-goal mark in a single season six times throughout his 21 seasons in the NHL.
