Matthew Schaefer (D) – New York Islanders
Schaefer registered his first multi-goal performance of his career on 11/2/2025 (3-2 W vs CBJ). As a rookie, he leads the league among blueliners in goals with five this season. Through the opening 12 games of his career, Schaefer ranks second among Islanders skaters in points with 10 (five goals, five assists). The 18-year-old leads league rookies in goals and is tied with Ivan Demidov in points.
Prior to making his NHL debut this season, Schaefer skated in 73 games and tallied 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) across two seasons with the Erie Otters (OHL). He was named to the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship roster for Team Canada and would skate in the opening two games of the tournament before exiting due to an upper-body injury. Through the opening four weeks of the NHL season, Schaefer has solidified himself in the rookie of the year conversation.
Connor Bedard (C) – Chicago Blackhawks
Bedard recorded a four point effort and registered the first hat-trick of his NHL career on 10/28/2025 (7-3 W vs OTT). He currently rides a three-game point streak and has recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) in the three games he skated in last week. The 20-year-old leads all Blackhawks skaters in assists (nine), points (15) and is tied with Ryan Donato for the team lead in goals (six) this season.
Drafted by the Blackhawks first-overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Bedard has skated in 162 regular-season games and registered 143 points (51 goals, 92 assists) through the opening three seasons of his NHL career. He has reached the 20-goal mark and 60-point mark at the completion of his first two seasons as a Blackhawk. Bedard is a former Calder Trophy winner (rookie of the year) and two-time IIHF World Junior Champion in 2022 and 2023 for Team Canada.
Drake Batherson (RW) – Ottawa Senators
Batherson registered eight points (three goals, five assists) in four games for the Senators last week. He is on a five-game point streak and has only been held off the score sheet twice this season. After being held out of the opening three games of the season due to injury, Batherson has bounced back to lead all Senators skaters in assists (10) and points (15).
As a fourth-round (121st overall) selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Senators, Batherson has skated in 401 regular-season games and registered 308 points (121 goals, 187 assists) across eight seasons in Ottawa. Last season, he established new career highs in points (68) and assists (42) in a single season. The 27-year-old managed to skate in all 82-games for three consecutive seasons starting in 2022-23, but will fail to reach a fourth due to an injury sustained at the start of the 2025-26 season.
