RECAP – Round 4: High Point

Deegan Rebounds to Dominant Form at Round 4

After struggling at round three in Colorado, Deegan returned to his winning ways taking both moto wins at High Point. It was a near flawless day for the reigning champion, leading the field in all 250 class sessions except for the second qualifying session. His success at High Point formed in the opening lap of each moto, passing the leader and maintaining a steady pace through the length of the race.

Chance Hymas Exits Series After Mistake in Moto 2 at High Point

Looking to capitalize on momentum from sweeping both motos at round three, Hymas could not find the same success at High Point. From poor starting position in moto one, he managed to reach 5th position, salvaging the potential for an overall podium. While in second place in moto two, Hymas made a mistake on the final lap, allowing Tom Vialle to pass, bumping him off the overall podium. Chance was seen holding his knee while exiting the track, clearly in discomfort. Hymas took to social media a few days after the incident to announce his departure from the series and confirm his injury status.

Severe Weather Issues A Red Flag In 450 Moto 2

As the gate dropped on 450 moto two, rain began to pour down on High Point Raceway, making track conditions severely difficult. In motocross, rain and muddy track conditions are known to become the great equalizer of speed and talent as the conditions are so harsh that no racer is guaranteed success. With Eli Tomac leading the pack and Jett Lawrence buried among the field of riders, Jett had to work to attain a chance at the overall victory. As the moto progressed, Jett slowly began passing riders and working his way closer to the leaders. He was required to reach third place in order to secure his spot at the top step of the podium. With luck on his side, Jett Lawrence caught and passed Aarron Plessinger to enter into third place in the moto and take control of the overall victory, one lap prior to the early completion of the race due to a red flag scenario caused by nearby lightning. Jett Lawrence remains perfect in overall victories through four rounds as he demonstrates the importance of consistency and perseverance to win in Pro Motocross.
